On the next “20/20,” airing on Friday, May 5, contributing anchor Deborah Roberts takes viewers on a journey to solve a 33-year-old murder case that shocked an affluent southern Florida suburb in May of 1990. Marlene Warren, a 40-year-old mother, was shot and killed at point-blank range by a clown carrying balloons and flowers who showed up at her doorstep.
For years, suspicion fell on Marlene’s husband, Michael Warren, but his denial and airtight alibi left investigators with no leads. Now, just weeks ago, Michael’s second wife, Sheila Keen-Warren, has pled guilty to second-degree murder, finally bringing the killer to justice.
In this exclusive “20/20” episode, viewers will hear from Marlene’s son, Joe Ahrens, who opens up about the life-altering knock at the door that morning, what ensued, and how the murder has impacted his life. In addition, the show features interviews with Greg Rosenfeld, the defense attorney for Sheila Keen; Dave Aronberg, the state attorney for Palm Beach County; and Reid Scott and Aleathea McRoberts, assistant state attorneys.
“20/20” also includes interviews with family members of the victim, witnesses to the crime, and key investigators who helped crack the case. The two-hour program features exclusive crime scene and family photos, giving viewers a glimpse into the investigation that spanned three decades.
