Motive was askew in “Venom”. Ben Renick’s wife was cheating on him with two men and then set up an old boyfriend seven years in her past to take the wrap for his murder. Unbeknown to Ben she was pregnant from her “latest” and would have been found out by Ben eventually if she waited. Ben had 47 acres of farmland and a thriving reptile business with snakes, some worth six figures. She knew a snake handler who could take care of the snakes and look after the property. After Ben’s death she sold the property and looked to market the snakes. How handy, her old boyfriend with a shady past took the fall and got “life” for first degree murder and she got thirteen years, convicted of second-degree murder, despite the testimony to the contrary of four independent witnesses. In thirteen years she’ll have a tidy sum to come back to from Ben’s assets she sold, while her old-old boyfriend convicted of Ben’s murder waits his life in jail. She can then find new people to con.
