Tonight (Saturday November 19 2022), A&E broadcasts an episode of the series Killer Cases titled A Mother’s Secret.

A Mother’s Secret Season 3, Episode 8 Episode Summary

In the spring of 1993, two newspaper carriers going down a rural road saw what they assumed was a doll but was actually a newborn baby’s body. The coroner would determine that the infant was born alive, but his provenance remained unknown. The baby was named Geauga’s Child after the county in which he was born; the community made clothes for his funeral and paid for his burial. Despite dozens of leads and even a hidden camera placed at the cemetery in the hopes that the child’s mother would appear, no arrests were made for the next 25 years. The cold case was then solved using modern DNA and familial genealogy techniques, identifying the boy’s mother as the now middle-aged Gail Eastwood-Ritchey.

Years previously, as a young single woman, she had delivered the stillborn baby and dumped his body in a wild area in a trash bag. Eastwood-Richey was found guilty of murder following a four-day trial and sentenced to life in prison with the chance of parole after 15 years.
