Episode Summary

Anita Rani and John Craven get into the holiday spirit at Rockingham Castle, which is celebrating its 950th anniversary. Anita learns that Charles Dickens was a frequent visitor over the holiday season, performing plays not only for the Lords and Ladies but also for the servants.

Anita forages searches greenery to build a Christmas wreath, and John participates in a wildlife survey to find out what is spending the holidays in the castle’s famous elephant yew hedge.

Romy Gill, a chef and culinary writer, is hard at work in Rockingham’s kitchen with four young cooks she’s met on her travels, while Adam Henson is on the hunt for renegade mistletoe. Tom Heap investigates social eating as a possible solution to food poverty, social isolation, and food waste, while Charlotte Smith investigates how our farmers are getting a raw deal for the produce that ends up on our plates.
