The inspiration for the classic Christmas song “Here Comes Santa Claus” came to Gene Autry while he was participating on his horse in the 1946 Santa Claus Lane Parade in Los Angeles (now known as the Hollywood Christmas Parade), where large groups of children were yelling, “Here comes Santa Claus.” His song, which Oakley Haldeman set to music, was influenced by this.
