The Nonnatus team is dealing with difficult cases in May 1968, one of which is much closer to home because Lucille is battling her own health. Sister Julienne meets the heavily pregnant first-time mother Lilian Reynolds at a coffee morning for expectant mothers. But after Lilian complains of breast discomfort, she is given a dire prognosis.
