Episode Summary
To learn about the difficulties faced when attempting to break into the industry, Charlotte Smith and Steve Brown are interviewing first-time entrepreneurs across the nation.
Steve is in Hampshire to learn what led two people—a former marine and a recruiter—to choose to work in the notoriously challenging dairy industry. In Worcestershire, Charlotte is looking into what led a successful hairdresser to give up her job and start raising Wagyu cattle and Valais sheep instead.
Charlotte meets a couple of duck farmers in West Wales who gave up the rat race in London and decided to put all their eggs in one basket. Adam Henson is visiting Medina College on the Isle of Wight, where a new GCSE course in agriculture has just begun. He will be there to observe the students as they care for livestock in the field. Charlotte also learns why there are so few farm tenancies available.
