Episode Summary

While Sean Fletcher is in Cornwall, he isn’t there to take in the stunning 300-mile coastline. The county’s renowned tin and copper mining industries left a lasting legacy that he will instead explore underground. At Prideaux Wood, Sean comes across an endangered mammal that has made itself at home in abandoned mine shafts, and at Penwith, we go underground to learn about the geology and history of a 500-year-old tin mine that contains some of the deepest seams in the nation.

While Tom Heap investigates whether mining Cornish lithium could usher in a new gold rush, Adam Henson is looking for a super fertiliser buried deep beneath the North York Moors.
