Martin Short, a former SCTV actor who briefly played Ebersol, and Steve Martin, an actor, comedian, writer, composer, playwright, producer, and musician, served as the hosts. They co-star in the popular Hulu mystery comedy-drama series Only Murders in the Building, the hit 1986 Western comedy film Three Amigos, the popular Netflix comedy special An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life, and they will resume their “You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today!” Tour next year. They also co-starred in the popular 1991 romantic comedy film Father of the Bride and the sequel 1995 film Father of the Bride II.
Martin is serving as the show’s host for the first time since the episode from January 31, 2009, which was the fourteenth of Season 34. Additionally, this is the second time he has co-hosted SNL with Short since the sixth episode of the show’s 12th season, which aired on December 6, 1986, with Chevy Chase and musical guest Randy Newman.
