Guy Martin’s Great British Power Trip Series Information

In this three-part series, a Lincolnshire lorry mechanic and motorbike racer look at the past, present, and future of British power stations to determine how the nation produces its most valuable resource of all: electricity. This is done in the context of an energy crisis and a cost-of-living crisis. In the upcoming seasons, Guy will contribute spectacularly to Britain's "Net Zero" goals by aiding in the detonation of a coal-fired power plant, among other fascinating moments. In order to work on the largest offshore wind farm in the world, he will undergo a rigorous safety training programme and learn how to escape from an underwater helicopter. He will then collaborate with the British Army in their brand-new solar-powered workshop.

In addition, he will be given "the hardest job in the nation": manually making the minute adjustments needed to balance the nation's electricity supply with its fluctuating demand. Guy will also travel to the Orkney Islands, which are at the very end of the National Grid, to learn about the lessons that the largest tidal generator and a budding hydrogen economy are teaching the world about future fuels. He will also work a shift at Hinkley Point C, the nuclear construction site whose daily operating costs are said to be £7 million, as part of his investigation into the role nuclear energy plays in keeping the country's lights on.
