Final Jeopardy Answer
The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Rembrandt
Final Jeopardy Explanation
The 1898 Rembrandt tentoonstelling (Rembrandt Exhibition) honoured the installation of Queen Wilhelmina as Holland’s new monarch.
The exhibition featured 350 drawings and etchings in addition to 124 paintings, paid tribute to both the Queen and Rembrandt, one of Holland’s most well-known painters. It included Rembrandt’s enormous canvas The Nightwatch, which was forced into the Stedelijk Museum through a window while being transported across the Museumplein.
400 paintings from Rembrandt’s body of work were shown in photographic reproductions, contrary to the curator Hofstede de Groot’s original vision for a exhibition featuring the artist’s entire body of work.
