The Mysterious Death of Tiffiney Crawford 3/25/23 Episode Summary
Jason Crawford called 911 to report the shooting of his wife. Sheriff’s deputies discovered Crawford’s 32-year-old wife, Tiffiney, dead in the driver’s seat of her van that evening, May 2, 2017, when they arrived. Her head had been shot twice. She held a gun in her left hand. She used her right hand. At least one deputy first believed Tiffiney Crawford committed suicide. Then, detectives dug even further. In “The Strange Death of Tiffiney Crawford,” which will be aired on Saturday, March 25 (10:00–11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and streamed on Paramount+, contributor David Begnaud and 48 HOURS investigate what transpired that night and the case against Jason Crawford. Crawford’s lone interview regarding the matter is shown on the broadcast.
Jason Crawford of Cullman, Alabama, was found guilty of killing his wife and given a 99-year prison term. Crawford argues that, despite what the jury found, he is innocent and that his wife committed suicide in an exclusive interview with Begnaud. Detectives refuse to trust him since it is exceedingly unusual for someone to shoot themself twice while using their non-dominant hand.
“My family and friends … they never questioned that I wouldn’t kill my wife,” Crawford says.
“Did anything about your relationship with Tiffiney lead you to believe that she was suicidal?” Begnaud asks.
“Not at the time. Looking back, just seeing how depressed she actually was and reading some of her journal … makes me think she was hiding a lot of stuff,” Crawford says.
“Did you kill your wife?” Begnaud asks.
“No,” Crawford says.
