Joe Crowley is in Aberystwyth to meet the scientists who are responsible for some of the most significant recent advancements in agriculture and food security, including insect brownies, the resurgence of historic crops, and why some South American visitors might be the upland farming industry’s saviors.

Charlotte Smith is in the Lea Valley to look into why what is referred to as London’s salad bowl is in danger of failing. The Lea Valley is home to 3,500 acres of glasshouses that produce 75% of the domestic salads in the Country. In his final report from the Welsh mountains, Adrian Chiles learns what the future of sheep farming might entail while Adam Henson explores why the transition to sustainable farming could spell a boom period for local breeds.
