The Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, New York City serves more than 65 million passengers annually and roughly 8,000 buses and 225,000 passengers on average each weekday, making it the busiest bus terminal in the United States and the world by volume of traffic.
The public organisation Port Authority of New York and New Jersey runs the terminal which was opened in 1950.
It originally awed commuters with its art deco style, including its semicircular facade set off by a large clock, gleaming stainless steel trim, and mirror-like polished stone floors.
