Final Jeopardy Answer

The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Old North Church

Final Jeopardy Explanation

President Gerald Ford visited Old North Church in Boston on April 18, 1975 on the bicentennial of the eve of the American Revolution where he lit a third lantern in recognition of the country’s third century.

The renowned “One if by land, two if by sea” signal is claimed to have been sent from the Old North Church, referring to Paul Revere’s midnight journey on April 18, 1775, which preceded the American Revolutionary War battles of Lexington and Concord.

In a nationally televised speech, among the comments President Ford made were “The Declaration of Independence has won the minds, it has won the hearts of this world beyond the dreams of any revolutionary who has ever lived. The two lanterns of Old North Church have fired a torch of freedom that has been carried to the ends of the world.” and “Let us pray here in the Old North Church tonight that those who follow 100 years or 200 years from now may look back at us and say: We were a society which combined reason with liberty and hope with freedom. May it be said above all: We kept the faith, freedom flourished, liberty lived. These are the abiding principles of our past and the greatest promise of our future.”
