Final Jeopardy Explanation

After the release of the 2012 film, The Hunger Games, the Geena Davis Institute conducted a study that explored the influence of fictional archers in films and TV shows on the sport of archery.

The study focused on USA Archery and found that fictional characters, particularly female archers like Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, inspired young people to take up archery, especially girls.

The research showed that the release of The Hunger Games and Brave in 2012 coincided with a significant increase in archery participation, with overall participation rising by 86% from 2013 to 2014 and women’s participation increasing by 105% during that period. The study’s findings highlighted the impact of fictional characters on inspiring girls’ aspirations and contributing to the sport’s growth, particularly among young women.
