In New Zealand, Christchurch is the largest city in the Canterbury region. This region’s name is the same as that of an English city renowned for its cathedral.

The Canterbury Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England and has been the archbishop’s seat since the 6th century. It is a significant religious landmark and has been the destination for pilgrimages, notably depicted in Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales.”
