However, the particular piece under scrutiny in this episode has a significant challenge – it’s been concealed beneath layers of white paint. The canvas is shrouded in mystery, and owner Liza Dunluce hopes it could be a genuine Gorky masterpiece.
The backstory adds an extra layer of fascination to this artistic quest. The painting was a gift to Liza’s late husband, Alexander, back in 1965 when he was serving as the keeper of conservation at the Tate Gallery.
