The show is presided over by a trio of esteemed judges, including Michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing, renowned chef Monica Galetti, and celebrated MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace. Together, they are on a mission to discover the next culinary star who will rise to prominence through this revered cooking competition.
Over the course of seven intense weeks, these 32 professional chefs will have their culinary skills, creativity, and culinary knowledge put to the test. The judges will present them with a series of demanding challenges that will push them to their limits, all in the pursuit of identifying the most impressive talent in the culinary industry. Only the best of the best will have the opportunity to vie for the coveted trophy.
In the opening heat of this exhilarating season, the competition kicks off with the arrival of the first four contenders. To advance in the contest, they must first prove their mettle in the infamous Skills Test before presenting their own culinary creations in the Signature Menu round.
The Skills Test, a daunting challenge, is divided into two parts. The first pair of chefs faces a test set by Monica, which requires them to prepare and cook a fillet of brill, served with a turnip garnish and a coconut sauce. The challenge assesses their precision in filleting the fish and their culinary expertise.
The next two hopefuls are tasked with a Skills Test set by Marcus. They are required to poach and pan-fry a portion of guinea fowl, prepare a sherry hollandaise sauce, and serve it with a bitter salad. With only 20 minutes on the clock and the judges closely observing, their butchery skills and culinary experience are scrutinized like never before.
Finally, all four chefs have one last opportunity to shine when they present their own two-course Signature Menu. In just one hour and 30 minutes, they must showcase their unique culinary style and creativity by preparing a main course and dessert that will impress the discerning judges.
With only two coveted quarter-final spots available, the competition is fierce, and the chefs are under immense pressure to deliver exceptional dishes and prove their culinary excellence.
