What Happened to Camilo Salazar & Manuel Marin?
69-year-old Miami businessman, Manuel Marin was sentenced to life in prison by Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Miguel M. De La O for his involvement in the 2011 kidnapping and murder of Camilo Salazar, a man who had an affair with Marin’s wife. The sentencing was the result of Marin’s conviction for manslaughter with a weapon, conspiracy to commit kidnapping or aggravated battery, and kidnapping.
Marin had orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot involving individuals Roberto “Bam Bam” Isaac, Alexis Vila Perdomo, and Ariel Gandulla. Isaac was convicted of second-degree murder and conspiracy charges, receiving a life sentence. Vila Perdomo, a friend of Isaac and Gandulla, was convicted of conspiracy charges and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Gandulla, a former mixed martial arts fighter, cooperated with authorities and served 36 months in prison as part of a plea agreement.
During hissentencing, Judge De La O emphasized the senseless and cruel nature of Marin’s actions. Camilo Salazar, a married father of two, disappeared in 2011 and was found dead near the Everglades. The medical examiner’s report indicated that Salazar had been subjected to physical and psychological torture, including being tied up, beaten, having his throat slit, and parts of his body burned.
Marin, who had fled to Spain after the murder and later surrendered in 2018, had been associated with Presidente Supermarkets. His conviction and life sentence mark the culmination of a lengthy legal process that sought justice for the victim and his family.
