Countryfile “Dumfries House” 26 November 2023 on BBC One
Tonight (Sunday 26 November 2023), BBC One broadcasts an episode of the series Countryfile!
Episode Summary
This episode showcases the beauty of autumn in full swing and marks the beginning of the first year of teaching at the new rural skills centre, recently opened by the King.
Margherita Taylor and Joe Crowley will lead the way in exploring how this hub of agricultural learning will have a positive impact on future farmers and the broader countryside. One of the key goals is to bridge the gap between people and the land, fostering a deeper connection to the natural world.
Margherita will have the opportunity to join the first group of schoolchildren who are testing out the new facilities. She will even lend a hand (and an arm) in using a brand-new educational tool, the calving simulator. Additionally, Margherita will put on her gardening gloves to assist in pruning some of the thousands of roses in the estate’s collection.
On the other hand, Joe will take on the role of a member of the Dumfries House cleaning team, tackling the task of dusting a priceless chandelier. He will also immerse himself in Scotland’s rich culture by learning to play one of its most traditional instruments, the bagpipes.
In another segment, Tom Heap investigates the challenges that families face when seeking additional support for their children in rural schools. Adam Henson will delve into a fascinating research project that focuses on developing technology to gain a deeper understanding of the intricate science of honey production.
