Lesley Stahl revisits a compelling story she covered in 2009 involving Jennifer Thompson, a rape victim who discovered years later that an innocent man had been wrongly imprisoned for the crime. Thompson, now a staunch advocate, believes crime victims are often forgotten or unfairly treated when the justice system fails. She has founded Healing Justice, an organization that facilitates healing retreats bringing together the wrongfully convicted, crime victims, and their families. Stahl explores their journeys and the powerful impact of these retreats in a special double-length segment produced by Shari Finkelstein.
One Small Step
In another segment, Norah O’Donnell sits down with Dave Isay, the visionary behind StoryCorps, the renowned oral history project capturing diverse voices across America. Isay introduces his latest initiative, “One Small Step,” aimed at bridging political divides by encouraging meaningful face-to-face conversations among people with differing viewpoints. Keith Sharman produces this inspiring story about the power of dialogue and understanding in today’s polarized society.
