60 Minutes CBS “Master of the Mind, Sealand” August 4 2024
On Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, CBS’s “60 Minutes” will feature two intriguing segments updated for this post-season edition.
Master of the Mind
The first segment, “Master of the Mind,” by correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi, explores a groundbreaking approach to brain surgery that could transform the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and drug addiction. The segment follows Dr. Ali Rezai, a neuroscience pioneer, as he tests experimental procedures at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute in Morgantown, West Virginia. This double-length feature showcases how Rezai’s clinical trials are impacting patients and offers new hope for those suffering from brain disorders. Guy Campanile produces the first part of this segment, with Campanile and Lucy Hatcher producing the second part.
Sealand
The second segment, “Sealand,” by correspondent Jon Wertheim, takes viewers on a journey to the world’s smallest and most unconventional state: the Principality of Sealand. Located just off the English coast and the size of two tennis courts, Sealand was originally built as a naval fort during World War II and later became a “pirate radio” station under the Bates family. Wertheim explores this micronation’s unique history, including its episodes of piracy, coups, and rogues. Michael Gavshon is the producer for this segment.
