Final Jeopardy Answer
The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Kevlar
Final Jeopardy Explanation
Poly-Paraphenylene Terephthalamide, initially intended to reinforce radial tires, is better known as Kevlar. This high-strength material was developed by Stephanie Kwolek at DuPont in 1965 and quickly found a much broader range of applications beyond its original automotive intentions. Kevlar’s exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to heat made it ideal for use in various lifesaving and protective applications. It is perhaps best known for its use in bulletproof vests, where its ability to absorb and disperse energy saves lives by preventing penetration from high-speed projectiles. Additionally, Kevlar is used in the manufacture of high-performance sporting equipment, aerospace and military components, fire-resistant clothing, and various types of ropes and cables. Its versatility and protective qualities have made it an invaluable material in many high-stakes industries.
