In this encore presentation, “The People v. Kouri Richins”, contributor Natalie Morales reports on the details of this chilling case. Kouri claims to have found her husband unresponsive in their bed on March 4, 2022, after celebrating a new house-flipping deal. However, suspicions arose when the medical examiner ruled Eric’s death a fentanyl overdose, especially since Eric wasn’t an opioid user.
Kouri Richins’ family and friends were initially supportive, but things changed when she wrote a children’s book, “Are You With Me?”, aimed at helping her children cope with their father’s death. Soon after promoting the book on local TV, Kouri was arrested and charged with murder. Prosecutors allege that she intentionally poisoned her husband with fentanyl, and Eric had reportedly warned his family that Kouri was trying to kill him.
Kouri maintains her innocence, and her defense attorney argues that the prosecution has yet to prove she gave her husband the drugs. The case continues to unfold, and 48 HOURS delves into the investigation and the implications for Kouri Richins’ future.
Tune in to 48 HOURS at 9:00 PM ET/PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ to hear Kouri’s side of the story, the prosecutor’s case, and more in this shocking tale of betrayal and tragedy.
