This Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM CT, Dateline NBC presents “The Streets of Laredo,” a gripping investigation into a series of deadly shootings that shook the border city of Laredo, Texas.

The case began on September 3, 2018, when the body of 29-year-old Melissa Ramirez was found on a secluded road just 25 miles outside of downtown Laredo. She had been shot in the head. While law enforcement knew Melissa as a drug user and sex worker, her family remembered her as someone completely different, leading to a tragic twist in this investigation.

As investigators delved deeper into Melissa’s life, they discovered a connection to another woman, Claudine Luera. The two women worked in the same area and knew each other. Ten days after Melissa’s death, Claudine was found barely alive, also shot and left by the side of the road. Sadly, she did not survive, heightening the suspicion that the cases were linked.

When law enforcement received a tip from a woman who had narrowly escaped an attack by the same man, they knew they were on the verge of uncovering a serial killer.
