Dateline NBC “The Ultimate Betrayal” May 3 2025 Recap & Preview

In 2015, 54-year-old Tahereh Ghassemi was reported missing after she failed to return home one evening. Her son, Hamed, found signs of a struggle, but no sign of his mother. What followed was an investigation that revealed a horrifying murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by her ex-husband, Hamid Ghassemi. After years of financial struggles and a divorce settlement that required Hamid to pay over $1 million, Hamid decided to take matters into his own hands. He hired three hitmen to abduct and kill his ex-wife.

Tahereh was kidnapped, shot, and buried in a remote area, with her car torched to cover the crime. The episode features interviews with law enforcement, including key investigators, and footage of crucial moments that helped solve this case. Dateline also brings exclusive insights from those closest to Tahereh, including her family, as well as interviews with one of the hitmen, revealing the lengths to which Hamid went to eliminate his wife.
