According to Todd, a pipe flew off a passing truck and smashed through the windshield of their car, striking Barbara. Despite efforts to save her, Barbara died the next day at the hospital. The couple had been married for 25 years and recently welcomed their first grandchild. Todd insisted it was a tragic accident, but investigators began to question the story. No pipe was found at the supposed crash scene, no matching truck was identified on surveillance footage, and Todd’s version of events changed multiple times.
