Kherson Under Fire
CBS News senior foreign correspondent Holly Williams reports from Kherson, the Russian army’s first major Ukrainian city and only regional capital, one year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Kherson residents endured a brutal occupation until the Ukrainian army drove the Russians out. Williams reports on life in liberated Kherson, which is still being shelled by Russian artillery stationed on the other side of the Dnipro River. Erin Lyall and Guy Campanile are the producers.

The Girls of Sola
Since US troops left Afghanistan and the country fell to the Taliban, Afghan girls have been barred from attending school beyond the sixth grade. Lesley Stahl travels to Rwanda to meet a group of Afghan girls who are continuing their education in an unlikely location. The girls attend SOLA, a school run by a remarkable Afghan woman whose dedication to educating girls began during the first Taliban regime, when she attended a secret school disguised as a boy. SOLA, Afghanistan’s first boarding school for girls, was able to evacuate all of its students and staff following the Taliban takeover, making the girls of SOLA among the only Afghan middle and high school girls with access to formal education in the world today. This is a double-length segment. Shari Finkelstein is the producer.
