This Ancient Atrocity
One of the biggest investigations into unlawful child labour in this country was sparked by worries about the safety of pupils at a middle school in Nebraska. Scott Pelley of 60 Minutes examines the Department of Labour investigation that revealed how for many years, kids as young as 13 toiled overnight to clean slaughterhouses across the nation. The producers are Sarah Turcotte and Henry Schuster.
Lithium Valley
With new fleets of lithium-ion battery-powered electric cars and trucks, automakers are moving away from gas-powered vehicles. The battle to produce domestic sources of lithium is currently under way. sixty minutes Bill Whitaker visits a location near the Salton Sea in California, where clean energy will be used to produce lithium. Producer Sara Kuzmarov is involved.
James Nachtwey
James Nachtwey, one of the finest combat photographers of all time, is the subject of an Anderson Cooper documentary. Nachtwey, who is 75 years old, continues to put his life in peril in order to take vital photographs of bravery, sacrifice, and beauty in dark and dangerous locations all over the world. Nachtwey has documented almost all significant hostilities over the past 40 years, including the wars in Bosnia and Afghanistan, the Rwandan genocide, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Producer Denise Schrier Cetta is involved.
