Alexander, an opera singer, had recently posted a package, so when he received a text about a parcel, he assumed everything was fine and paid the fee. He lost £8,000 to scammers as a result, and he has been unable to recover his funds through his bank. He understands that he must improve his cyber security to ensure that this does not happen again. Rebecca, a lecturer at Cardiff University, says the scammers who stole thousands from her made her feel ‘groomed’ and ‘abused.’
