48 Hours “Beverly Hills 911” May 9 2026 Preview

CBS’s 48 Hours returns Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 PM ET/PT with a gripping new episode titled Beverly Hills 911. Correspondent Erin Moriarty investigates the mysterious death of Beverly Hills widow Violet Yacobi, whose body was discovered at the bottom of a staircase inside her lavish mansion.

The case began when Beverly Hills police responded to a 911 call reporting an emergency at the home. Officers arrived to find Violet lying motionless on the marble floor of the entryway beneath the staircase. At first, investigators considered whether the death may have been a tragic accident. But as detectives examined the scene more closely, questions quickly began to emerge.

Authorities focused their attention on Violet’s son, Daniel Yacobi, a Beverly Hills dentist whose account of events raised concerns among investigators. Detectives say inconsistencies in statements and forensic evidence suggested there may have been more to Violet’s death than a simple fall. The investigation gradually shifted from an accidental death inquiry into a possible homicide case.

The episode follows detectives as they work through conflicting stories, forensic findings, and family dynamics in an effort to determine what truly happened inside the mansion. Interviews with retired detective George Elwell and Detective Mark Schwartz provide insight into the challenges investigators faced while piecing together the timeline of Violet’s final hours.

Also featured are interviews with friends and acquaintances connected to the case, along with forensic experts and prosecutors who explain the medical and legal questions surrounding the investigation.

Beverly Hills 911 explores how a single emergency call uncovered a mystery involving wealth, family tension, and suspicion behind the doors of one of America’s most exclusive neighborhoods. The episode airs Saturday night on CBS, with streaming available on Paramount+.
