Today’s Final Jeopardy
The name of this country’s national anthem translates as “his majesty’s reign” & its lyrics come from a 1,000-year-old poem
Final Jeopardy Answer
The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Japan
Final Jeopardy Explanation
The national anthem of Japan is “Kimigayo” translating to “His Imperial Majesty’s Reign” or “The Emperor’s Reign.”
The lyrics are from a Waka poem that is over a thousand years old written during the Heian period from 794 to 1185. The poem is a short one, consisting of only 32 syllables, and when set to music, “Kimigayo” is one of the world’s shortest national anthems.
It has been the de facto national anthem of Japan since 1888, but it was officially recognized as such only in 1999.
