When he was a child, his parents took him to a Boston Bruins championship hockey game; as they were cleaning the house, they almost threw away the box of victory parade confetti that he had been saving ever since. There were only 27 seniors in his Ludlow high school graduating class, and Calvin Coolidge was one of its alumni. He and the other two student body presidents planned a pep rally during his senior year, and he tried calling out players’ names as they entered the stadium. This led to a regular job as a sports announcer at all of the school’s home games for every sport. |
