Final Jeopardy Explanation
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines Quid Pro Quo as “something given or received for something else”.
Originally, Quid pro quo was frequently used in the 16th and 18th centuries to refer to the substitution of one remedy for another.
The Latin phrase from which it was derived (which can be translated as “something for something”) originated with apothecaries (people who prepare and sell drugs or compounds for medicinal purposes).
