Final Jeopardy Explanation
The etymology of the English word “passion” comes from the Latin root “passio”, which means “suffering”, and was first used in English around 1175 when it was adopted from Old French to Old English.
The original definition was to denote the sufferings of Christ between the night of the Last Supper and his crucifixion, but eventually grew its definitions to mean the suffering of martyrs and suffering in general.
In modern times, it is more commonly used to define a strong and barely controllable feeling or emotion.
