Death Comes to Pemberley, written by by P.D. James, is a 2011 mystery fiction novel that continues Jane Austen’s 1813 classic novel Pride and Prejudice. It is a murder mystery set six years after the events in Pride and Prejudice which led to the marriage of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennet.
It was P.D. James’ (Phyllis Dorothy James) final novel before her passing in 2014, who was best known for her series of detective novels which featured the poet and police chief Adam Dalgliesh. She received numerous awards, such as the National Arts Club Medal of Honor for Literature and the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master Award, and in 1991 she was made Baroness James of Holland Park.
