Final Jeopardy Answer

The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Saladin

Final Jeopardy Explanation

Saladin established the Ayyubid dynasty and was the first sultan of both Egypt and Syria, born in 1137 and descended from a Kurdish family. Saladin led the Muslim military assault against the Crusader nations in the Levant during the Third Crusade. At its peak, his dominion included Egypt, Syria, Upper Mesopotamia, the Hejaz, Yemen, and Nubia.

Saladin had a reputation as a moral, generous, and humane leader, gallant and valiant in battle, and thus, Saladin was given a position of honour in Limbo by Dante, with the heroes of Troy and Rome.
