Final Jeopardy Explanation
The vaccine for whooping cough, or pertussis, a highly contagious respiratory tract infection marked by a severe cough that sounds like a “whoop”, was developed in 1914.
The vaccine for whooping cough was combined with the vaccines for diphtheria, which was developed in 1926, and tetanus which was developed in 1938. This combination vaccine, known as the DPT vaccine or DTP vaccine, was developed in 1948.
