Final Jeopardy Answer

The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Willa Cather

Final Jeopardy Explanation

Willa Cather was a renowned American author known for her novels of frontier life on the Great Plains. In 1883, when Cather was nine years old, her family moved to Nebraska, marking her introduction to the American West.

While living in Nebraska, Cather met Annie Pavelka, a Bohemian (now Czech Republic) immigrant whose life story became the inspiration for Cather’s novel “My Ántonia.” The book, published in 1918, is one of Cather’s most famous works and is considered a classic of American literature. The story is a vivid portrait of the immigrant experience on the American frontier, drawn from Cather’s own experiences and acquaintances, including her friendship with Pavelka.

Willa Cather was recognized for her contributions to literature with the Pulitzer Prize in 1923 for her novel “One of Ours.”
