Final Jeopardy Answer

The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Brandenburg Concertos

Final Jeopardy Explanation

Johann Sebastian Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos are a collection of six instrumental works presented by Bach to Christian Ludwig, the Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt who was a younger brother of the King Frederick I of Prussia. Bach likely sent the concertos to the Margrave as a gesture of gratitude and a demonstration of his compositional prowess.

Bach composed the Brandenburg Concertos around 1720 while he was the Kapellmeister (director of music) in the service of Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Cöthen. While the term “concerto” typically implies a solo instrument with an accompanying orchestra, Bach’s concertos include a variety of instruments with each of the six concertos has a different group of instruments performing as soloists.
