Today’s Final Jeopardy refers to the negotiation of the Treaty of Paris in 1783, which took place in Paris, France. Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay represented the United States in the negotiations, working together to secure a favorable outcome for their young nation in the wake of the American Revolution. Despite Adams’ apprehension about being outmaneuvered by Franklin and Jay, the three diplomats successfully managed to secure terms that recognized American independence and established generous territorial boundaries for the United States. The Treaty of Paris formally ended the Revolutionary War and set the stage for the development of the United States as an independent nation.
