Thomas Hardy was a renowned English novelist and poet during the Victorian era, known for his novels such as “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” and “Far from the Madding Crowd”.

Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy was a British Navy officer, most famous for being the captain of HMS Victory during the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 under Admiral Lord Nelson. He is often associated with the famous phrase “Kiss me, Hardy”, purportedly Admiral Nelson’s last words before he died during the battle.
