A jury in South Carolina found disgraced former attorney Alex Murdaugh guilty of murdering his wife, Maggie, and son Paul on Thursday, bringing to a close a dramatic and tragic story that has unfolded in the national spotlight. In a special episode titled “The Trial of Alex Murdaugh,” 48 HOURS and CBS News national correspondent Nikki Battiste investigate the double life of a once prominent lawyer and his stunning fall from grace, which will air Saturday, March 4 (10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and stream on Paramount+.
Creighton Waters, the lead prosecutor, will sit down with Battiste and CBS News for his first one-on-one interview following Murdaugh’s sentencing. Battiste first travelled to South Carolina in the summer of 2021 to cover Maggie and Paul’s murder and has been covering the case ever since.
