Final Jeopardy Answer

The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Helen of Troy

Final Jeopardy Explanation

Helen of Troy was a figure in Greek mythology said to have been the most beautiful woman in the world. She is cited as “the face that launched a thousand ships” in Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus.

Castor and Pollux invaded Theseus’s kingdom of Attica to rescue Helen after she was abducted there in the tale. In retaliation, they deposed Theseus’ rival, Menestheus, from the throne of Athens and abducted his mother, Aethra, taking her to Sparta. Aethra was then made Aethra’s slave by Helen. Her grandsons Demophon and Acamas brought her back to her home following the fall of Troy.

Later in her life, after Paris of Troy had taken her from her husband Menelaus, King of Sparta, the Achaeans (Greeks) waged the Trojan War against the city of Troy.
