Final Jeopardy Explanation
The book Picturing Frederick Douglass: An Illustrated Biography of the Nineteenth Century’s Most Photographed American features 160 photos of Douglass, many of which had never been published, from the period between 1841 and 1895.
After escaping from slavery in Maryland in the early 1840s, Douglass started posing for photographs and started writing essays about the power of art and how it could be used to give the oppressed confidence as his love in photography grew into an obsession.
