The Final Jeopardy Answer is: Canterbury Cathedral

Final Jeopardy Explanation

Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury was murdered in Canterbury Cathedral on 29 December 1170.

Becket, who held the positions of archbishop of Canterbury and royal Chancellor, was one of the most influential people of his time. Once a personal friend of King Henry II, Becket and the monarch got into a tense argument that ended with the king’s trusted knights shockingly killing Becket.

During the murder, one of the knights pronounced Becket’s epitaph saying, “Let us away, knights; he will rise no more.”

Becket was subsequently revered as a martyr by the faithful across Europe, and on February 21, 1173, just over two years after his passing, Pope Alexander III canonized him in St. Peter’s Cathedral in Segni.
