Beatrice Wood, who was an American ceramic artist and studio potter, served as one of the muses for the character Rose DeWitt Bukater in James Cameron’s 1997 film, “Titanic.” The character of Rose was brought to life by Kate Winslet and Gloria Stuart, with the latter portraying an older Rose and also narrating the movie.
Beatrice Wood was renowned for her vibrant wit and unconventional way of life, attributes that were mirrored in Rose’s character. At the time of the film’s release, Wood was 105 years old.
